Armin Hamrah

The Inhumane Humanities: History for the 21st Century
A junior at Sacred Heart Prep, Armin has always had trouble with history classes—not with succeeding in them, but enjoying and resonating with them. He is working on creating a seminar on “Mysteries, Misinformation, and Epistemology” and reforming assessment methods in his high school’s history courses.

Talk Synopsis
Do modern history classes meet the needs of the digital age? High school Junior Armin Hamrah doesn’t think so. In this eye-opening talk, Armin analyzes the necessary reformation of the social science curriculum by debunking why modern history classes need to focus on questioning as opposed to memorizing, be rooted in critical thinking, and grounded in real-world exploration and contribution.
