Eighteen students submitted their applications and speech outlines for the event
The three topics that emerged from the outlines include Relationships, Technology, and the Environment. Each of these topics will be explored through talks and student presentations/performances as they relate to our overall theme Humanness - Citizens of the Earth. Here is a sampling of the talks being organized: citizen science, bioethics, personal finance, positive relationships, and overcoming grief and loss. Students are now working on their final speeches with their teacher mentors and Mr. McDade. The teacher mentors are SHP teachers who are volunteering their time to help students research and write about their topics. Mr. McDade will then work with the students to fine-tune the speech into a TED-type presentation. Students have until February 13th to get these in for review.
